I stood watching you leave with my nose pressed against the window.
You paused at the end of the drive to light your cigarette.
My childhood eyes saw an unforgettable image – my elegant father silhouetted under the streetlight.
“Jenifer!” Mother screamed.
A glass smashed.
Ruefully, I left you. She needs me.
